Modern British Painters

Bernadett Timko

Bernadett Timko is a figurative painter who has a passion for her subject matter. She was born in Hungary in 1992 and attended art school from the age of 14 where drawing was drilled into her. She became an avid student drawing all the time and this foundation is one she is today grateful for. Arriving in London at the age of 18, she attended The Heatherley School of Art where she studied painting, sculpture and printmaking.
She paints mainly from life, but will sometimes use photographs and memory. There is a deep relationship between Bernadett and her subject matter. The emotional connection for Bernadett is a key element in the inspiration behind the journey in the semi abstract colour blocks taking on a form through her use of colour in the creation process.
She has been showing with a major London gallery since 2017 and had a solo show in 2020. She has shown with the NEAC, ROI, RBA and other prestigious art societies and won a number of awards including, Winsor and Newton Young Artist Award, Phyllis Robers Award, Lynn Painer-Stainers Young Artist Award and the Prince of Wales Portrait Award.
